Walking or Jogging?
January 6, 2008 by admin
Walking might be one of the most underestimated of all exercise. It might be out of the category of extreme sports but none the less you can have a nice workout by walking. Several extra steps per minute will do the job. What I’m talking about is not your normal pace of walking but picking up the pace a little does a world of difference while doing your morning or evening workout. You must have a good pair of sneakers to even start your walk.
Setting realistic goals can have a lasting effect on your exercise routine, commit to your long term goals. Many just give up because it takes time out of their day or don’t see instant results. You deserve at least an hour everyday to stay healthy.
Why would you want to start out with a walking routine instead of a jogging routine? Well my choice was easy, I’m over weight and out of shape. It wouldn’t do me any justice to start a jogging routine and quit in a couple of days. How would you know what routine would be good for you? The only way of knowing is to put on your sneakers and start off by walking. If that’s too slow for you, than try a slow jog. You’ll know if jogging is right for you.
You know yourself better than anyone else. I would suggest consulting your doctor before starting your exercise routine. Do you know your overall health? Most of us think we do. If you’re over 40 years of age it is even more important that you consult your doctor. Depending on your general health your doctor might want to conduct a few tests to make sure that you’re in good health.
A walking or jogging routine can be healthy for your body and mind. It gives you time to yourself so you can enjoy your surroundings and let your mind run free. This alone can be so relaxing for you and your health.
Consistency will be the key to your success. Committing to your exercise program and being consistent will help you meet your goals. Take a break when you need it but commit to staying on track.
